The drivers side window assembly can be tricky to put back together. There are guides/stoppers which need to be orientated a certain way so that the window will stop in the correct position. If not, the glass windows will raise too high and prevent the door from closing smoothly.
Using the Forester service manual you can find instructions for adjusting the window into the correct position.
Below is the orientation of the Window assembly stoppers.
The reason you would have the guides below out of your Subaru Forester is if you are in the process of replacing the electric window assembly. Old grease can prevent the rubber bushes from rolling/sliding in the tracks; it is recommended that you remove the guides from the car, remove the old grease and apply a fresh coating of grease.
I found a replacement assembly on eBay which worked fine with my drivers side. Send me a message and I will provide you with a link to the seller.
