I recently had the P2118 appear on a Lexus RX350 2007 model. Admittedly I was using a cheap eBay OBD bluetooth module, so who really knows how well it works or if its a valid reading.
I was attempting to troubleshoot the P2118 code which is an error for ‘actuator control valve motor’ but had no success. It was stuck at the local shopping center and I eventually took it to the mechanic down the road.
As I had cleared the code using my app/bluetooth OBD reader, I was worried I may send the mechanic on a wild goose chase if he went to pull the codes himself and find that there’s nothing reporting. When I went to discuss this with him, he brushed it off completely, telling me not to even worry about the code; it means nothing.
Well I suppose he was right in the end, as it turned out to be a fuel pump fault. It has since been replaced and now the RX is back on the road.
